Oticon Delta

Finally a hearing device you will actually want to wear!

Oticon Delta was originally designed to overcome the negative perceptions often associated with hearing aids. Oticon wanted to design a hearing device that was not only acceptable cosmetically, but fashionable or even trendy. And of course, they wanted to do all this and not sacrifice performance.

Oticon hired a consulting firm to address the stigma associated with hearing aids. What they found was that people often used cost as an excuse to postpone getting treatment. The trendy new styling of the Delta is part of the strategy. Sharp designs and colors fight the impressions made by older devices.

The New York Times profiled the Delta in the Sunday Business section of the September 24, 2006 issue. The New York Times reports "This hearing aid looks more like an earring. Its tiny triangular body comes in exuberant colors like sunset orange, racing green or cabernet red; a slender wisp of wire uncoils gracefully from the body to an earpod no bigger than a teardrop". What are we talking about...a new hearing device or a new european sports car?

It's a shame it's so invisible

The triangular body of the Delta tucks neatly behind the ear. The receiver fits directly into the ear canal that is connected to a ultra thin wire. When it's sitting on the ear, it is virtually invisible. But when shown in the hand, it is virtually irrestible.

Key features

* High frequency adaptive directionality

* TriState noise management

* VoiceFinder

* Artificial Intelligence

* Dynamic feedback cancellation

High frequency adaptive directionality

Delta uses a sophisticated sound processing system to achieve better speech understanding in noise and a significant reduction in listening effort. Directionality is a very effective way in which to improve speech understanding in noisy environments.

The triangular shape of enables a 9mm inter microphone spacing to be achieved in a horizontal plane for greater directional efficiency. This is especially important in the 3000 to 8000 Hz frequencies where understanding speech in crucial.

However, there are situations where hearing instruments should not be in directional mode. So, Delta uses an automatic, multiband, adaptive directional system which is only activated when you need it. It is capable of reducing several competing noise sources at the same time.

TriState noise management

If you have mild and High frequency hearing loss, you may be acutely sensitive to amplified noise. Delta's noise management system is always active. It will apply a narrow band noise reduction in order to improve your listening comfort.

VoiceFinder

In the presence of noise, Delta will use its patented VoiceFinder technology to detect that speech is present and will reduce the amount of noise reduction applied to speech sensitive frequency bands.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is a system programmed to continuously optimize the Voice to Noise ratio of Delta so that it instantly and seemlessly changes the settings of the device. This gives you the best possible speech understanding in any given environment.

Dynamic feedback cancellation

Dynamic feedback cancellation eliminates unwanted feedback by precise phase cancellation. This will you give you a more natural and comfortable listening environment.

Three models to choose from

The Delta comes in three models and can be equiped with three different ear piece options. The three models are the Delta 8000, Delta 6000, and the Delta 4000.

The Delta 8000 is the top of the line model. The Delta 6000 offers advanced features for the value conscious but still desire some high end options. The Delta 4000 is a new lower priced model. The 4000 offers good performance wihout sacrificing style because of price.
